Thanks for answering questions. I’m trather guarded about my non theist beliefs. I’m perfectly fully fine for me but it seems more and more people telling me about what God wants from me( which brings my thinking to save it for someone Else to be manipulated into believing like I used to believe or acted like I believed. I’m accountable and responsible for my actions and my words.

Top notch article. If anyone want’s to “hear from” Joe Nowinski, I interviewed him over skype and questioned him on some of his findings. It seems that many of the mantras (go to meetings, get a sponsor, etc.) do have some basis on reality because each of these changes in our behavior, when observed by outsiders, improves our chances of abstinence.

I don’t think Nowinski is a cheer leader, he’s a scientist. I also don’t discourage those who are more critical of AA. Some who ridicule are just fault-finding as if there is a reward for identifying imperfection. But sometimes they make good points, too. AA isn’t perfect but Nowinski does show how some of the factors in AA do improve our chances.

There are some youtube vids of Nowinski too.

That is so cool that you met Gary. He was the first person I met when I attended my first Area Assembly as the GSR for our group. Just by chance, I happened to sit by him and we hit it off right away. He’s a good guy and I’m glad you met him. I look forward to hearing about the International Convention when everyone comes back to their home groups.
